Montauk by Nicola Harrison

4.0

This book follows Bea, a high society wife, as she struggles with the realities of her married life & discovering she doesn't relate to the women in her circle. Soon she finds herself helping the lighthouse keeper - and they start an affair.⁣

I find books that are centered on affairs a bit tricky - it can be hard for me to fully root for the couple, even if in this one Beatrice does feel like she is in an inescapable situation at a time where woman are expected to behave. This book had a few other things going for it though - I loved Beatrice's relationships with her friends, the column she wrote anonymously for the newspaper, and the effort made to improve Montauk. Overall, I enjoyed it.
