Lucy's life is about to implode. Stuck in a job she hates living in a place she hates with a relationship that's on the decline, things go from bad to worse when she discovers her partner is cheating. Out of patience, love, and money, she applies to a position only someone truly desperate would even attempt. She has to fly to Switzerland to deliver a warning to a socialite's wayward sister, who seems to have something that doesn't belong to her. The tricky part---Lucy is given only a vague place to start. No one knows *exactly* where the elusive Coco is, and Lucy's sleuthing skills are...mediocre at best. As she stumbles through her assignment, Lucy manages to make both new friends, at least one bitter enemy, and goes viral for all the wrong reasons. As the mystery deepens in complexity, Lucy will soon realize that she's more personally impacted than she could have ever predicted.

There are a lot of fun moments, but the story of the stolen property (no spoilers!) which verrrrry gradually unfolds in between Lucy's misadventures, gets more intense and heartbreaking than you'd expect, and way more convoluted. At one point very close to the end I panicked a bit that it wasn't going to wrap up and there was a sequel ahead I hadn't known about---but in spite of everything, it all does manage to disentangle itself. Although I thought this was going to be more of a romance (and there were a few moments of this) it was much more about family and friendship, and honestly...I kind of love that. I do enjoy a book that manages to keep surprising you all the way through and this definitely did that.
