My boyfriend’s favorite author is Stephen King so he convinced me to give one a read. He said Carrie would be a good staring place for me lol.
The Introduction by Margaret Atwood and the Authors note really help you understand the time and place in which this story was written. Also the authors state of mind/life while writing Carrie. The introduction sadly has spoilers but good insight.
Stephen king captures characters psychology really well. I had so much sympathy for Carrie. Mistreated not only at school but by her own mother.
I was able to tell the novel was written by a male. (I guess it’s been a while.) The writing style reminded me Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides which was another excellent read.
In the book King describes a woman in a dress that looks a “little like a tuba” and this made me laugh harder than I’d like to admit.
