The Goalie Who Stole Christmas by Cali Melle

5.0

Friends to lovers, fake dating, home for the holidays, hockey romance! Um yes please!!
Asher needs a fake girlfriend to take home to Maine for his brothers wedding, which also happens to fall right around Christmas. Determined to make his mom happy, he asks Sydney to be his fake girlfriend and to spend Christmas with him and his family, having made it clear he has no interest in any form of a “real “ relationship. But having been friends since freshman year, Sydney quickly agreed not admitting to Asher that she had some underlying feelings for him.

I loved that when Asher realized what he was feeling, those feelings flourished and this man who had no interest in dating or relationships was picturing a future with this girl he had been friends with for years.

“You’ve been right in front of me this entire time” “How could I have possibly been so blind”

And Sydney was so sweet and so real! She had these feelings for Asher but didn’t want the pain and rejection if he didn’t want the same thing. And the way that she was in awe of all the beauty and family traditions that their family took part in made her character even more genuine.

Their love was not instant it was something that grew with friendship and time, even though we didn’t get to see that ourselves, eventually when eyes were opened and lines were crossed, Asher especially was able to admit that he wanted so much more than what they had in their friendship.

“I guess when you know, you just know.” “And what do you know?” I swallow roughly. “That I’m madly fucking in love with you, Sydney Phillips. And I want you for the rest of my life.”

“I’ve been in love with you for a long time, Asher Golding.” Her face dips down to mine, her lips barely brushing against my own. “And I’ll love you for the rest of my life.”

LIKE CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THE AWWWWING & SWOONING MOMENT I HAD READING THAT
