This book has some very intricate and unique world builing. Sometimes this was delivered through info dumps which were a little confusing, though.
I'm glad there was a glossary because it really helped when I had to double check the meaning of words etc. The pronunciation guide was helpful too.
I think the characters could be developed a bit a more. There's no indication at the beginning of each chapter as to which character the POV is from, and it makes it harder to distinguish the different "voices". I found them almost blurring into each other as I continued reading.
On the whole the pacing was slow, although there were one or two instances where it picked up due to the action, but it never seemed to last long. I found the last 25% to be much better than the rest of the book and enjoyed the plot more from then onwards.
Overall, I can see what the author was aiming for. This book does have a lot of potential but, for me, it just fell a little flat and needs some improving in certain areas.
