Title: The Seldom Wings
Author: Beka Westrup
Series: Winged Spirits book 1
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶

I was captivated by Beka Westrup's story telling from beginning to end. This dark fantasy, The Seldom Wings was such a fascinating and intense story.

Sia, our morally grey heroine was such a badass. She's exactly the type of FMC you would want in this type of fantasy. She's a knife wielding, hand to hand fighter who doesn't back to down from evil. She doesn't take crap from anyone especially men and she's unapologetical in her love for humanity. Her willingness to put herself last just to protect the ones she loves makes her a true heroine. I also enjoyed seeing every side of Sia and the internal struggle she deals with throughout the book.

Sia runs from home and away from her controlling father who wants to force her hand in marriage for the alliance it will give him and their kingdom. Sia only wants her freedom and to find out who her mother was and what she is. But while she's searching the city her mother is from, body's start piling up. So Sia starts trying to figure out who this serial killer is before it's too late and the people she holds most dear to her end up getting hurt.

A creepy fog filled town that can kill anyone who dares take too deep a breath. Promises that if broken will kill. A love triangle. Seraphim in the sky, monsters that lurk in the deep, and a gnashing forest filled with all kinds of unknown. Sea serpents, elves, sutilis... these creatures are made from nightmares. The suspense and mystery in this book are top notch. Every time I thought I had everyone figured out, I realized I was wrong.

This book has a little something for everyone in it. I don't think there is one thing I didn't like about this story or the authors writing. Tropes included: Enemies to lovers, found family, morally grey heroine, slow burn, hidden identities, and love triangle. I also love the pansexual representation in this book. I highly recommend this book to all my dark fantasy lovers. Book 2 can't come soon enough. If you haven't read anything by Beka Westrup yet, give The Seldom Wings a go!!
