Maureen Johnson always does such a phenomenal job. Her writing is really engaging and fun to read, and there's a certain quirky musicality to her prose that is hard to get elsewhere. While I found the MC, Stevie, to be annoying at times, her characterization is solid and compelling. The mystery is fun, the setting is atmospheric, and I love the tributes to the mystery genre in general! Overall, this is a really fun book to fall back into, and I couldn't put it down.
Graphic: Death, Kidnapping, Grief, Murder
Moderate: Child death, Panic attacks/disorders, Violence, Alcohol
Minor: Drug use
