Once and for All
by Sarah Dessen
An avid reader of Dessen as a teen, her books always provide a sense of comfort to me, even now as an adult. I will admit I found myself having difficulties getting into this one, but was relieved when I felt myself hit the part of the book that made me think "yes, this is the Sarah Dessen I know and love." While this definitely was not my favorite (The Truth About Forever, Just Listen, Lock and Key ) I am glad I read it. I liked Ambrose and Louna a lot, and I appreciated the message in this book. My only criticism is that I wish Dessen had spent more time looking into the impact a school shooting can have on not only the victims, but the ripple that stems from such a tragedy. We saw this a bit with the way Louna- and as a consequence her friends and family- reacted to the news of another shooting, but I think there was more that could have been developed there.
