This was a truly special read. Like Jeff Lemire says in his afterword, it is really tough to successfully execute horror stories or politically charged stories and yet this graphic novel manages to deliver both in a gruesome yet bittersweet tale.

As any horror fan knows, to give too much away about a horror story can be detrimental to future readers, so all I will say is this: for the obvious limitations of the medium, this graphic novel delivers some truly magnificent imagery of frightful things and blends it beautifully with a narrative embedded in compelling viewpoints on racial issues. I know without a doubt the things I saw and read here will stay with me for a long time to come.
