Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World by Paul Stamets

hopeful informative inspiring reflective relaxing slow-paced

4.0

Mycelium Running is a great multipurpose book, with applications spanning from general informational knowledge to nutrition and land management. Parts I and II (chapters 1-8) consist of the general knowledge, the more easily read through portions of the book. Part III, particularly chapters 9-12 and 14, are better used as a reference to look back on for future endeavors in applying the knowledge set forth by parts I and II. This does make part III a bit of a difficult read if you’re trying to read through it in a sitting, but the photographs and graphs make it more digestible. Chapter 8 on mycopesticides was arguably the best chapter of the book, taking into account both Stamets’ personal experiences like all chapters and applying them in an easily accessible way.
