Appetite for Innocence by Lucinda Berry
4.0

Is the content awful? Yes. But is it well written? Also yes. Berry pulls no emotional punches while also not fetishizing the acts that take place themselves. While I would have loved to see our bad guy suffer a bit more, I loved that the story largely makes him a side character rather than a main character. I wanted to shake the Mom more than once, but Berry also reminds us that she’s been traumatized too. An uncomfortable, page-turning read that I ultimately devoured in two days.
