The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

2.0

I didn’t really like this one. The beginning was pretty interesting and I was all in, but then it got a little slower in the middle and then they introduced the love triangle that I can’t say I was too interested in, since I wasn’t a fan of either of the boys.

I also didn’t like that Avery kind of explains everything instead of implying things through more detail. I would like to figure stuff out on my own, figure out what a person is saying or who they are as a character through the details I’ve been given, so I can kind of be the detective too. For example:

“I hear Zara and your uncle are looking for ways to challenge the will.” Xander gave every appearance of talking to Thea, but I got the distinct feeling that he was really issuing a warning to me.
Don’t trust Thea.

Is that one just me? I just feel like it could’ve been more descriptive. Like how exactly did you pick up on that?

“They are magic. And when your in their orbit, you feel like magic too.”

....What? What does that even mean? I’m just saying, they don’t seem to deserve all the hype their getting.
Just a few examples, I don’t want to make this a ridiculously long review. I will say though, that this was funny as times. I like Max and Xander and they were my favorites in this book. I kind of like how it was kind of like Knives Out in the beginning, but I really don’t think I’ll finish this. Sorry.
