The Dressmakers of Prospect Heights by Kitty Zeldis

emotional hopeful reflective medium-paced

4.0

While this book dealt with difficult subject matter--prostitution, rape, infant death, infertility, antisemitism, sexism--the overarching tone was gentleness.  It took me several chapters to get into, but then I was invested in the characters, all of whom I liked and could understand.  I wish there had been more history in it, more details of the aftermath of the war and pandemic.  I'm not sure this book will stay with me forever, but I really enjoyed the story and the characters.
