Prisoner by Annika Martin, Skye Warren

4.0

I love this duet so much and considering it’s been since 2016 since I last read this one, I think it warranted a reread. Plus a written review, since 2016 was before I got into writing them.

I recall the first time I read this, getting quickly into it, making it an easy five star read. The same goes for this round, but I think opinions altered slightly and it's a 4 star read for me.

Loved the set-up, the plot, the characters, even the dark romance. Love prison romances but I really wish this one had gone on longer. The prison setting is so quick, only a few chapters, before they’re on the run. Would have loved more.

Also the detail of feelings feels slightly off. They’re there but I didn’t fully feel them, didn’t connect in ways I wish I had. So it ruined some of the romance for me as I felt there was always this barrier.

Nonetheless, happy I reread and I probably would in the future. Easy, good read. Very entertaining and sets up for more. I remember being obsessed with Stone’s book so I’m SO eager to get to rereading that one.

Favourite Quote:“I don’t deserve her love, but I have it anyway. I don't deserve having her at all, but she’s mine.”
