This was a lot of fun! I loved being in a world inspired by Middle Eastern culture, it’s one of my favourite types of world. I will say though that the world building is rough - as in there’s so much that I couldn’t really wrap my head around it. I would feel quite confused and have to read supplementary text to understand the world more.
I loved how descriptive Chakraborty’s writing it! Very easy to read and I can picture everything in my head!
I also listened to the audiobook. Soneela Nankani, as always, is fab. If she narrates, it’s an automatic listen!
Some great twists and action in the book, I devoured it once I was more than half way. Looking forward to the rest of the series, I heard it’s better than book 2!
