Claimed by Kele Moon, Laurann Dohner

I expected more from these two authors together but actually got LESS than either one individually.

I love the strong heroines in Ms. Dohner's New Species series and all of Ms. Moon's books but did not see them here. Brandi wimped out after she was rescued - her curvy body image, shifter nudity before/after shifting, shifters eating wild game in wolf form, spiders in the house, and the opportunity of converting to a wolf. Jason was great but not taken to the level of any of these two authors' other Heroes. There was not much relationship development and no communication between the two. Brandi made the important decision that she was ok to be non con mated to Jason and move in with him OFF PAGE. Both authors really create depth in their characters but did not see it here. Beyond their initial meet and greet info sharing, the two MCs just seemed to react. More information was given about Brandi's inner dialogue than Jason's. This went hand in hand with the lack of relationship development and lack of communication. There were conflicts and internal struggles - Brandi's failed marriage, Jason's deadbeat human father and half breed status, Jason's non con mating bite on Brandi, and Brandi's decision to move in with Jason - but they weren't adequately addressed. The sex was a disappointment too. Kele Moon writes hot sex scenes, and even her book [b:Mercy Bound|26823900|Mercy Bound|Kele Moon|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1443354426s/26823900.jpg|24498617] featured a mating heat, but did not see them here. Finally, the ending was a let down and was a HFN with a cheap crappy sex scene.

This book was the set up for a new series and paraded lots of characters through that were similar, unsurprisingly, to New Species. I see no reason to continue with this Nightwind Pack series. I'm much better off rereading New Species #1-13 (don't recommend #14 Numbers).
