Cornelia Funke is one of the most magnificent story tellers I have ever read. This is the third in the Reckless series (supposedly of 5). In this series, she blends the lore of Russia and Germany. She creates a vibrant landscape where richly developed characters adventure, scheme, love, and mourn. I have enjoyed other of Funke's books, but this series is topping my list.
