i wanted to love this book, i really really did!! i listened to probably 85% on audiobook, and after switching to reading i definitely think that the audiobook kind of ruined it for me. it just really accentuated how flawed all the characters were when i heard it out loud if that makes sense? now don’t get me wrong, i love a flawed character as much as the next person. but cameron & tova both drove me crazy!! when i read things they weren’t near as bad, but listening?? i don’t know if it was just the way the narrator portrayed them or not, but either way, i found them both so annoying. they redeemed themselves at the end, but not enough for a four star rating. cameron was just so entitled and for why???

marcellus on the other hand??? i loved him. he can do literally zero wrong. his & tova’s relationship was so fun to watch, and he was such a pompous little octopus. his narrator was SO good too. honestly the best part of this book was him.

i think this is just one of those cases of a book being great for other people, but just didn’t work for me!!

marcellus made the book what it was, i would live & die for him.
