The Secret of Chimneys by Agatha Christie
4.0

Anthony Cade is a drifter who gets an errand that sweeps him up into geopolitics, murder, and a dashing woman. This has many of the best elements of Christie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Superintendent Battle is not one of my favorite Christie characters, I find him a bit stiff. Battle in this introductory novel is very stiff, but he plays well the our more carefree Cade. The mystery was good and entertaining. Christie employs her classic misdirection tactics and the final denouement is full of surprising reveals. If you like Christie this is a solid addition to her work.
