An interesting title. Which character is it meant for? Peter or Gamache. Gamache is newly retired in Three Pines. Peter, the artist husband of Clara, the artist has not returned home after being exiled by her for a year separation. He has missed the deadline. Clara confides in Gamache and seeks his help in finding him. Thus begins a search and a sweep of the couple’s past to include art school and finally ending in a remote village at the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River accessible only by plane or boat. Some devious twists and a shocking ending.
