“… and it’s seems like for some people, making friends is like finding a shirt or a hat: you just figure out what color you want, see if it fits, and then take it home and hope everyone likes it and you.”

Charlie is just a seventeen going on eighteen year old girl who has been dealt a rough hand at life. She’s lost everything and everyone, she’s lived on the streets and in a sex house. What else could possibly go wrong?

This story is very emotional and tragic. The story was well written and I loved that the author added a note in the back explaining that she also dealt with self harm. Self harm is a topic that is so shut down and looked down on the victims of it are afraid to ask for help mainly because they felt they had no one so that’s why they start.

If you or someone you know self harms there are resources to help.
