The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman

4.5 stars

Well I loved this! It was definitely an eccentric book that firmly centred around the main character, Kinch Na Shannack, and his bawdy jokes and meandering internal monologues. I do adore a well-written mischievous thief in fantasy novels. The world building felt original and interesting. The writing style was both entertaining and witty with a darker edge to it as well (those goblins were the stuff of nightmares and I am NEVER EVER getting involved in a pull). I can't wait to see what adventures are in store for Kinch next!

On a side note, I listened to the audiobook and thought Christopher Buehlman did an awesome job of narrating his own novel, although initially the accent was a little hard to understand. The unexpected singing parts were quite fun and atmospheric.
