Thief's Magic by Trudi Canavan

4.0

It was a reread for me and one that I enjoyed immensely. Having read The Magicians Guild trilogy years ago I've read many of Trudi Canavan's books since.

In Thief's Magic we get introduced to Tyen and Rielle, the two main character with two completely different storylines that don't intersect (yet).

Tyen is a young sorcerer studying to be a historian. During an archaeological expedition he finds an old book of magic that introduces him to the magic of a thousand years ago and with that other concepts of magic.

Rielle is a young woman living in a world where the use of magic is only allowed for priests while everyone else is severely punished for it. Having been able to sense magic since she was a child she has been forced to hide it.

This book is a introduction to Tyen and Rielle and the worlds they live in. A big focus of this book is worldbuilding, which I love, but there is still plenty of action to accompany it. I was excited to venture into the worlds of Tyen and Rielle again and can't wait to read the other books in the series!
