I was scared to read this one because its so hyped and you know what I completely get it. I loved it buuuuut hear me out I may get some hate for this but I didn't love the romance as much as I loved the world and creature building as well as the alchemy. I really enjoyed Odessa's character. She was great I loved being in her brain and seeing how it worked. The world was vast and I need more about it stat. The creatures for me is where this shines. I'm a big animal advocate so all the vivid descriptions about them rocked my world. Now I did predict some outcomes but wasn't entirely sure how it was going to happen. Without spoilers and this will be hard but if you read the book I think you'll understand. I didn't like how the romantic interest went about executing things at all. There were a lot of secrets from a lot of people and I felt that was super fucked up. I also didn't love how forgiving Odessa was of everything. That alone dropped the book down in rates for me. I personally feel victimized by the author right now. The events that just hit me in the last 50 pages I couldn't keep up with at all and I am hurt. Besides the gaslighting and that cliffhanger everything else was great.
