Well, that was... odd. Unlike a lot of people who read this, I didn't mind that the game aspect was ditched for the most part because, personally, I found those action sequences kinda boring. It worked better as a techno-thriller, even if I ended up skim-reading the latter half of the book. It was just a bit too shallow and generically YA fare for my personal preference.
There are a lot of plot twists coming at you in this finale, and I think they were a bit too rapid-fire to really appreciate. I also just didn't get some of the choices characters made I guess it didn't help that, while I liked Emiko as a narrator and the easy to read style of writing, I didn't feel overly invested in any of the characters or get the chemistry between them all.
Not bad, just not quite the depth of YA I enjoy.

like yay, let's all forgive Hideo because he's suddenly had a change of heart? Even though he was super-invested in controlling the entire world like some kind of Death Note thing, only morally better because he didn't exactly force people to kill themselves... Oh wait, he did. Just not individually. Yikes. Not bad, just not quite the depth of YA I enjoy.
