An absolutely gorgeous and atmospheric novel about a plot of land and how it changes across its inhabitants, and across time. There's a little spookiness, a little magical realism, and a lot of extremely beautiful writing. Don't go in expecting it to be about one family; it's organized like a series of interconnected tales that come together in the end. I suspect if you like Faulkner's southern gothic work (like I do), you would love this book; it's nearly as complex and multilayered as one of his classics.

Digest it slowly and give it time to settle before making a final judgment.
