You have to start over, beginning with a working simple system.' should be a corollary to Fred Brooks' second system effect.
I think reading this book as if it is NOT satire makes it even funnier. Try it! It's a fun read, and doesn't take long to get through. Not sure how easy this book is to get right now, I bought it used off Amazon (no new option).
