Overall I enjoyed this book. It scratched a very specific itch for gay angel romance and I can’t complain about that. The drama kept me engaged and the characters are likable. No spoilers but it has a happy ending and I think that’s still really important in gay media. Oh and it’s about a young gay man living in rural Oregon (and loving it, not trying to gay flight to the city) and mostly experiencing acceptance and love rather than homophobia. That’s so important too!! And I like how the author tackled the question of god but I don’t feel like I can say more than that.

My complaints:
Two unnecessary uses of the T slur :(
Utilizes the giving disabled people magical powers trope which I find to be a bit dehumanizing even though it seems like that wasn’t the intent.

Also this is just personal preference but I wish that some of the slowness of the first half was spent on a little more relationship slow burn between the main characters, but their relationship was still enjoyable and believable enough for the context!

Overall I would recommend this book for people who are interested in gays, spirituality, and romance. There’s some catharsis for those who have lost a parent or other loved one. I don’t have that experience so I didn’t speak to it.
