Playing For Keeps by Tristen Crone

3.0

okay, first i'd just like to say: i don't fucking like corinne. i think she was an awful friend, even after her "redemption". i've gotten in fights with friends but the things corinne said were so unforgiveable to ME. i simply could not have looked past the things she said, especially because a lot of the things she said were said so maliciously, like she was trying to hurt her friend.

farren was the only character i could actually, really enjoy. sebastian had some redeeming qualities but it just sort of felt like he was playing pretend-grown up and needed to actually grow up. i feel like because so much of their backgrounds and progression is placed heavily on their family background/how they grew up, i would have liked to see those family dynamics played out more. there was only storyline for each and it didn't feel resolved and it felt a little rushed.

this book also felt a little like insta-love which, personal preference, i don't usually gravitate toward. so maybe that put me of a little, too.

but i loved the writing style and i would definitely read more of tristen's work!
