I have never lost a grandmother but I have lost an elderly family member who was a storyteller, with opinions and a family history. It’s impossible to know how accurate anything bar the facts are in a life, but what is special here is the voice. (A side note. The family is not poor by modern day but nor they apologetic or ignorant of it. You may not always agree with certain priorities either but there is the ring of truth or reality particularly in the interspersed transcripts.) It is worth a read if grief is not too raw for you.
