A fever dream. That's my description of the book.

There were points of extremely long narration, then (gasp!) a particularly eloquent prose, and then back to loooong "what am I reading thoughts;" my mind wandered and left the scene.

Honestly, under different circumstances I think I would've loved this book, however, the place I was (am?) in when I read it made it rather challenging to grapple with. I believe I would enjoy the novella if I came back to read it again at a different point in my life where I could give more time to just read it. This is certainly the type of read where you grow to appreciate it the more times you engage with it.

If you like temporality, spatiality, language (is it dead or a live? is it destructive or transformative?), and the self, then this is the book for you. Avoid if you dislike lobotomies.
