Summer Hours is an heartfelt, nostalgic, coming of age summer story. The themes are love, friendship, secrets, and the effect of choices we make during our adolescence years. Becca, Serra and Eric have been best friends since high school. Becca feels like she had to be perfect. Her feelings grows for Eric as time passes. Eric faces his own problems with his parents' divorce and his mom dating a younger man named Cal. Eric and Rebecca start attending college, they lose sight of each other. Rebecca returns home after being declined from internships and jobs , She meets Cal who offers her a job at his company. That's when trouble started for Rebecca, she has an affair with Cal. The book goes in a chronological order. The lessons taken away from this book are always be yourself and to forgive yourself on making those decisions that will make a impact on you for the rest of your life.
