Not my favourite Vonnegut but still, as usual, a whirlwind read. I was fortunate enough to read the entire thing in a day on my bank holiday and got heavily invested in the humorous and nonsensical plot line that is telltale for Vonnegut.
To me, the ending seemed dissatisfying (maybe that’s the point), and whilst the novel critiqued human greed, corporate consumption and generally poked holes in modern-day organised religion, it sometimes felt very ‘on the nose’. Nevertheless, a worthy Vonnegut read and a very fun novel.
Favourite quote:
“A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved”
