Pratchett proves once again that he’s one of the best to ever do it. This is pretty much a straight up mystery/police procedural novel and it seems like he’s been writing those all his life. What can I say about this cast of characters. It’s one of his deepest rosters and they’re all impeccable. Carrot, Vimes, Colon, Detritus, Angua. Every side character is fantastic. The guild leaders are perfect. AND HE BROUGHT BACK GASPODE!!!! I’d give 7 out of 5 stars just for that. Oh and of course it’s bone crushingly funny. Read Pratchett. End of discussion.
