A Christmas Carol
by Charles Dickens
This was a lovely and pleasant book to read during the holiday season!
I was not expecting this much to be packed into such a little volume, but Dickens has managed it. I was also expecting it to be difficult to read, but it was not at all. The pages absolutely flew by. I really must look into more of Dickens' works—I enjoy his style of writing quite a lot.
I'm shelving it under "good soup" because this book was exactly like that. It went down easy, was wholesome and very heartwarming. I would classify it in the same little niche of books as Little Women. It was good to finally read a classic that everyone knows, especially at the time of year it is actually set in (the effect just wouldn't be the same if I was to read it during summer).
If you're looking for a good, hopeful little book to wrap up your year, I highly recommend A Christmas Carol. I'm resolved to do more good in the new year because of it.
