I had no idea how to feel coming into Wretched!
The Wizard of Oz was never my favorite movie growing up so I was scared I wouldn't be as connected to this story or characters
HOWEVER - this isn't a retelling or highly based on that story! There are aspects in the book that can link you to certain characters or events from the film but overall this book stands alone!
This story follows Eveline and Nicholas - starting out with a bang, the two meet just to quickly say goodbye without so much as a name given! But when events pull them back together, secrets and the darkness of their lives keep them on their toes not willing to trust one another.
I tried to keep that as vague as possible but still give some information - how did I do lol?
Although I really love this series, I was right with my initial thoughts and didn't connect to the characters as much as I would've liked to, but that is a personal opinion! It was very fast paced in the beginning chapters and maybe it's because I've been reading so much slow burn, but I just wasn't about that right now.
I would still recommend this series as a whole and I am excited for her 4th book release with this series "Twisted" coming out in February 2023!
