Beasts of Prey was an interesting, magical story influenced by various African tales. It took me a minute to get all the characters straight, but once I did, I flew through this story. I loved the inclusion of gods and goddesses. I would've loved to see a little more of the magic being used in the story, but seeing as there will be more books (or at least one more) to follow...maybe the Splendor will be used more later on. I really liked the connection to the true (and horribly sad) story of the lions "The Ghost and the Darkness." That's one of my favorite movies and it was neat to see the connection in this book! I kind of hoped for a different ending, but it will be fun to see where Ayana takes this story!
