A Cursed Covenant by Leigh Ferguson

The opening line of the book hooked me in. Other than the opening line my favorite quotes are "Peter. I promise to hold your heart. I promise to give you mine. I promise...as long as I am able...I will be by your side." and "Memories are the worse form of torture." In the first quote, you can hear the love and promise and in the second you can hear the sadness and pain.
Leigh did an amazing job at the details of the story, I could picture everything that was happening, and I could hear the emotions in all the character's voices, whether it was happy, sad, anger, heartbreak, etc. The book is a dual POV going between the two main characters Peter and Elmira. The fact that both Peter and Elmira would do anything for each other and find each other every time makes me happy. A love like that between two people is beautiful. The scene at the end of chapter 35 was beautiful! The scene with Mavlo was very heartbreaking, along with the goodbye, and the story ended very beautifully.
I love that the chapters are given a title and not just the name of the character as so many other dual POV books do. The chapter titles come from something within the chapter, usually a quote from one of the characters. I love the short chapters, it allows you to pick up the book and read in small parts when you have a second to read.
This is a standalone book, but I can't wait to see what else Leigh writes.
