5.0

Not sure if this is a true 5 star read but I've listened to it and read it so many times, that I couldn't justify giving a lower rating.
Things I appreciated about this book;

-Tessa is a strong female lead who does anything and everything for those around her.  Amos recognizes this and provides a haven for Tessa, so once she walks through his door; she can take the weight of the world off her shoulders for once.

-The characters' ages!! As someone in their mid twenties, I cannot relate to these 19-21 year old leads, so I appreciated a romance between people in their early 30s and 40s.

-The unconventional beauty! I have no doubt Tessa is a beautiful character, but I was happy to see her stand out from other female leads I've come across. Tessa has a healthy appetite and the curves to show it! She isn't the typical cool -girl paradox, who eats likes a machine, but maintains a waif, girlish figure.  And Amos isn't some unrealistic 6'5 foot, 250 lbs rolling muscle head. I was very found of Tessa's description of her corn fed, undead farmboy-lover of similar height to her.

-Lastly, I really loved the vampire culture/lore here. It was unique and unlike any other I've seen. Rather than the human having to either be turned or only live a fraction of their immortal lover's life; the vampire's venom regenerates them and allows for an equal lifespan.
