Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery by Link Neal, Rhett McLaughlin
3.0
I'm a fan of Good Mythical Morning, hence why I decided to listen to this book, and I had really high expectations for it but they all fell short. You see, GMM is a really good show, and by listening to the audiobook I was hoping it was going to be like a bonus episode but it wasn't. It was pretty much a letdown, I expected to laugh a lot more than I did - I'd say a handful of times at maximum, and that's disappointing. They are really good internetainers, but I think they should have stuck to that. On the internet, or maybe I'm not a big enough fan to enjoy the personal information they shared. I wanted more funny stories than private moments and I guess I should stick to the show for that.
That being said, I did enjoy listening to it, it just wasn't anything better than good. It made me laugh in places, and I'm sure it will inspire many, but not really my cup of tea. I will admit that I loved the lists that they made on the subjects they were talking about, that was pretty cool because as usual, it was over the top and not normal. Another thing I enjoyed was the Mythical crew joining in on the reading when Rhett and Link talked about their opinions, for some reason I wasn't expecting it and it was pretty cool. But overall, I just wish there was more I could have laughed at. I made a comment when reading this that "finally I'm laughing!!" and the upsetting thing is, I was fifty-five percent through the book before I found something funny.
A problem that I noticed that sucked was because I listened to the audio version of the book when they talked about the photos in the book, naturally, I couldn't see them and it made me feel left out. It was a shame and I was kinda disappointed that I didn't have an actual copy in my hands at those times, but overall I'm glad I didn't buy this book.
