For One More Day by Mitch Albom

I read this in an afternoon -- a very readable story. It is a story about sons and mothers. Baseball and unrealized dreams. About giving up, and getting a second chance.

My favorite passage describes the author's conversation with a mountain climber. The author asks which is harder, ascending or descending? He answers, without a doubt, descending because ascending you are so focused on reaching the top that you are careful to avoid mistakes. In contrast, the backside of the mountain is a fight against human nature: "You have to care as much about yourself on the way down as you did on the way up." And so it is with life.

Yep, lots of wisdom in this book...
