Took me forever to get into this book, which was a bit disappointing given how much I love Maas' writing and how much I enjoyed Throne of Glass. This second book in this series is certainly a filler, not much plot, instead uncovering the plotline for the next book.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed reading this book but it just wasn't up to par with what I'm used to from Maas. It was just so so slow in the first part, finally picking up speed in the second part. But even still, it just felt like one massive lead up to the next book.
There was still a good amount of shock-value, Maas writes action and tension like no one else I've read, and she writes fantastically compelling characters. But still, that doesn't detract from the fact that this book is boring. I can forgive it though, since I know there's about 6 more books in the entire series, and from the little bits and pieces I've heard, so much shit is about to go down. I'm excited.
