“You don’t have to be alone to be lonely.”
The fact that the most profound utterance of the story came from a twelve-year-old's scheming defence says a lot about the quality of the book. While the synopsis of a contemporary chick-flick inspired by an iconic romcom does not promise originality, it did attempt to discuss the concept of love and how much of its magic can seep into modern life. That being said, it lacks the defining humor, sincerity, and pondering qualities of its genre, quickly deteriorating into a cheesy smut that hastily wraps up a story that took a disproportionate amount of the novel to climax.
