Linguistically beautiful, but not worth it. Personally I don't find the language adequate to redeem the plot. It felt a bit like Titus Andronicus - I consumed it and asked myself "what have I gained from this, and how is this better than the exploitative 'low brow' television so hated by the people who adore this?" I understand that the point is to shock, but in my opinion that's a hugely lazy goal for an author. The afterword solidified my initial impression.
Artists can and should follow their inspiration; readers can and should respond to the work accordingly. As such, I think it's sensationalist and doesn't justify itself. Not recommended.
