Its about as by the numbers as I could imagine any mystery novel is, and tells a story we have basically already heard before hundreds of times. Someone goes missing that the protagonist loves and they don't know why, but it turns out they have a dark past that they were hiding and its up to our hero to discover it if they can, and try to find them if they can as well.

I found some of the characters like-able, to a degree, and most unrealistic or mainly written to serve the plot in some meaningful way. The idea that the main character and her step daughter would do any of the things that they do after the inciting incident is far fetched to say the least, at least for anyone that is practical and thinking logically about the situation that was presented.

I know its not fair of me to criticize as well, but a woodworking artist who marries a tech coding master who is a dad with a heart of gold? Even hallmark would reject that premise.

Its good for a road trip and that is about it, get it with your audible subscription like I did to see what the hype is about and then move on.
