Obsession
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
NOT A STAND-ALONE NOVEL!
Certainly a different take on the Lux series. Recommend reading this one between Opal (book 3) and Origin (book 4) of the Lux series.
We learn some new things in this book compared to the Lux series. There’s always 2 sides to every store (re: war) and here we hear about the war between the Arum and Luxen from the Arum’s side. We also get insight into an Arum’s POV on what’s going on and how they’re reacting to the D.O.D. and everything going on with the Luxen.
We also get ROMANCE in this book. Obsession is Adult Romance, rather than the YA of the Lux series, and I am so here for it!
I personally like Serena. She’s been through a lot but she listens to what Hunter says and doesn’t hate him right off the bat for being “different”. Hunter’s attracted to Serena but it’s literally going against his (and his kind’s) nature to want her and to be softer with her. He’s not only battling the Luxen who are after Serena, but also his nature and feelings, as well as the D.O.D.
Fairly quick read that gives another perspective and gives you the explicitness only implied in the Lux series.
