The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
5.0
The Woman in White, by Willie Collins “There, in the middle of the broad, bright high-road, as if it had that moment sprung out of the earth or dropped from the heaven, stood the figure of a solitary Woman dressed from head to foot in white garments.”
I was mesmerised when I first read this novel over twenty years ago. The plot is captivatingly intricate, crammed with mystery, secrets and it deals with many of the social issues of the time (morality/gender roles/legal identity of women).
This is one of my favourite novels of all time.
