An extremely difficult book to read emotionally, especially against today's political climate, it forces us to not look away and also to ask how much has changed (not much). The world looks away as fellow humans are suffering, the evil and corruption that persists even amidst war. It can feel aimless, as there is no overarcing plot, but it forces you to sit with your humanity.
