Dubliners by James Joyce

4.0

'Dubliners' is a wonderful example of a unified and well structured collection that consists of very strong stories. I was at first concerned this text would be difficult to read, but found it generally understandable, and engaging also. Although many of the stories were quite harrowing, the glimpses into life into Dublin at this time was fascinating to read about, and to see consistent themes throughout the book was inspiring. I imagine I'll come back to some of the stories, especially since I think they benefit from contextual knowledge, but I do think this was a really great introduction to Joyce's writing.
