Thank you to the author, Bella Pursell, for providing me with an arc of this book.

It took me quite a bit to finish this book even if it was short, and I just think that goes into my rating as well.

The pacing was kind of slow and I felt myself getting bored at certain points, but overall I think it was a great story.

The FMC, Ana, was not very confident in herself at the beginning of the novel, but I was glad to see how her environment and the people around her made her confidence grow. Her familial relationships were complicated and strained, but I’m glad to see how they ended up at the end.

I rarely, if ever, see women as lawyers in books so I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect and getting to see a woman who loved her job and was good at it.

I would kind of say this has found family in it. The whole friend group seemed more like family than friends and were great to read about that Ana had that support.

The MMC was very fun to read about. His little quirks and the sort of questions that nobody would answer or indulge in (except Ana) were fun. His familial relationships were also complicated because of his parents and him having to raise his little brother. I think he did a pretty good job and it was sweet to read about scenes with Owen.

Perhaps this book made me realize I don’t like closed door romance as much as I thought, but I will still read it if it’s a good story. I just gravitate more towards open door/spice in novels and that’s perfectly okay! Personal preference. If you like closed door romance, you’ll love this! If you don’t, it’s still a good story.
